Announcing UniObjects for Python (UOPY) v1.4.0

We are excited to announce the release of UniObjects for Python (UOPY) v1.4.0, featuring significant enhancements and critical bug fixes to improve performance, compatibility, and user experience. UniObjects for Python (UOPY), a Python package by Rocket Software, is a client API that allows Python applications to access Rocket MV databases over the network. As a top language taught in colleges and universities, Python allows developers to leverage the Python open-source library 

Available at pypi.org at no charge, UOPY: 

  • Allows developers to rapidly create and enhance apps in response to market demand, with the help of Python’s hundreds of thousands of third-party libraries 
  • Enables developers to work in a modern language 
  • Uses object-oriented programming for client app development 
  • Capitalizes on modern development technology for new GUI and web application interfaces 

 

UOPY 1.4.0 enhancements: 

  • Expanded Python version support: UOPY is now certified on Python odd versions (3.9, 3.11, 3.13) and paper certified on even versions (3.10, 3.12), ensuring broader compatibility with the latest Python environments. 
  • Improved functionality for connection pools users: The introduction of the ClearPool feature facilitates the termination of all open pool connections. Using the closeAllCPSessions() method, users can now efficiently close all open sessions on UniVerse and UniData servers initiated by UOPY.

Bug fixes 

Support for MVIS Connections using the UniObjects Protocol: 

  • New feature: You can now establish MVIS connections via the UniObjects protocol. 
  • Limitation: You cannot use the UOPY UniCommands object with MVIS connections as it is not supported by MVIS. 
  • Linux connection issue resolved: We’ve resolved a critical issue from version 1.3.0 which prevented connections to the UniVerse database on Linux systems.  UOPY 1.4.0 introduces a new UniVerse version check ensuring accurate version detection to allow connections.
